Prayer & Preparation for November 17th, 2024
This Lord's Day
Hey church,
I hope we're all anticipating by faith a great day together this Lord's Day. And I hope our faith works in prayer for a great day together.
In the morning, the Lord willing, I'll preach on just one verse which can serve as a great checklist for Calvary-for our leadership's evaluation of church health, and for our prayers for leadership and for church health, and for our contribution as individuals and families to our church health.
In the evening, the Lord willing, we'll have our annual thanksgiving prayer meeting and pie night. If you haven't replied to the email that went out earlier this week, please do that (at least one in your family please) so that we can prepare enough seating and pie for everyone!
Also, here are some ways you can prepare yourself. First, please be a few minutes early so that everyone can settle into the fellowship hall and be ready to begin our thanksgiving service at 6:00. We'll try to transition to pie and fellowship by 7:00. We want to be sensitive to those with kids with bedtimes for school Monday morning. Secondly, it is appropriate to express gratitude for specific people in our church. And in order to do that in a God-glorifying way, we will be praying, not just "testifying." So if you'd like to prepare mentally (or even write out) a prayer of thanksgiving (for a person or a blessing of any kind), that's great. Spontaneous thanksgiving is not somehow more authentic or sincere. Thirdly, if you'd like to read a brief passage of Scripture that expresses your gratitude to God, that would be great as well!
Sounds like a great day with you all to me!
Here are some details about our morning service this week:
Songs we'll sing: "Only a Holy God," "Worthy Worthy," "Holy Spirit (Living Breath of God)," "Oh, How Good It Is," and "Rejoice"
